Get help and report a bug

Ask the Sniptide support assistant a question, or report a bug or send feedback from inside the app, and see what each one sends.

Open the account menu at the bottom of the sidebar and select Feedback to ask a question or report a problem without leaving the page you're on. On a phone, the account menu opens from your avatar in the top bar.

The dialog has two tabs. Ask answers questions from these docs. Report a problem sends a bug report or feedback to the people who run Sniptide. An instance shows only the tabs its administrator has turned on, as Configuration describes.

Ask a question

Type your question in one line, up to 300 characters, and press Enter or the arrow button. The assistant reads this documentation and answers in a few sentences, with links to the pages it used.

The answers are written by AI and can be wrong, so follow the links when a detail matters. The assistant can't see your pastes, your account or your server, and it can't change anything for you.

When the docs don't solve your problem, or what you describe sounds like a bug, the assistant offers to pass it on. It files a report with your conversation attached and tells you the issue number.

Each question sends the conversation, the page address without its query, your browser and your account ID to the assistant's model provider, which is Anthropic or OpenAI depending on how the instance is set up. You can ask 10 questions a day, and the count resets 24 hours after your first question.

Report a bug or send feedback

  1. Select Bug or Feedback.
  2. Describe what happened and what you expected, or what you'd like to tell the team.
  3. Optional: select Attach a screenshot, or paste an image into the description. Screenshots can be PNG, JPEG, WebP or GIF, up to 5 MB.
  4. Select Send report. A Report sent message confirms it.

Open Details sent with your report to see everything that goes with it:

DetailExample
Page address, without its query or fragmenthttps://app.sniptide.com/pastes/k3j2h
BrowserYour browser's user agent
App versionThe release the server runs
User IDYour account's ID, not your email
Instancehosted on sniptide.com, self-hosted everywhere else

Check a screenshot for private content before you attach it. You can send 10 reports an hour, counting the ones the assistant files for you.

Sending the same report twice, from the same page, adds it to the open issue instead of creating a second one.

Report from a self-hosted instance

An instance without a tracker shows Continue on GitHub instead of Send report. It opens a prefilled public issue in a new tab, where you sign in to GitHub, attach a screenshot if you want one, and submit it. Remove anything private first, because the issue is public. If the administrator's help link doesn't point at GitHub issues, the button reads Continue and opens that link instead.

You can also open an issue directly at github.com/Dino-Kupinic/sniptide/issues. The form there asks for the same details.

If sending fails, see Troubleshooting.
